Sallie, What a sad day this morning when we found out via the circle drive email. I read my email just about 7am when I headed out to see clients. I was thinking of you and your family all day and I still can't believe that Jay is no longer with us. It feels like I just called you and Jay was still out biking and enjoying being active. I think that was a month ago. Please know our thoughts are with you. What a nice picture of Jay on this blog. God Bless. Connie KK

Sallie,

I was sad to hear of Jay's passing. He was one of my mentors as a trainer in the entertainment industry. Nearly every class I teach I speak of Jay and something learned from him. I am now the head of safety for the IATSE and Jay gave me inspiration that allowed that to happen. There are 1000s of riggers who owe Jay for some of their knowledge.

Sallie, I'd been thinking of you and Jay a lot in the last few days. I did a Google search today and was so sorry to hear about Jay's death. My deepest sympathy to you and your daughter and sons.

Sallie, I am so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. He was an amazing person who made everyone feel special. He was always so helpful and kind. It was a treat to meet you at the USITT conference this year. I am grateful I was fortunate enough to get to know /see Jay for a week every year for the past 6 years.

I learned so much from him as did many others in the industry. What an imprint to leave!

Wishing you strength, love, and healing.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He and Harry trained me. I wouldn't be the rigger I am today without them. You can bet they're rigging an amazing show tonight.

One of my favorite people to see yearly at USITT (and at Board meetings, etc). His influence on all of us was huge in so many ways throughout the Institute and the industry. Jay will be missed and I am one who will miss him. My sympathy to you and the family. Gino

When I ran into Jay at the USITT conference and stage expo, following his laser eye surgery, I asked him about his quality of vision. He smiled and said, "My vision has improved, but my perspective remains the same!" Always an optimist, a consummate gentlemen, and inspiring mentor to one and all. He will be missed.

Really sad to hear of Jay's passing. I've known him for many years. I first met him when I was the Assistant Technical Director at the Lyric Opera in Chicago and was taking the Rigging Seminars course with him and Harry Donovan at Northwestern.
He and Harry were a blast in that class. You couldn't imagine how much we all learned in a few days.
Jay always had time if you had a question. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Sincerely, Mal Brown
Technical Director
Northlight Theatre
Skokie, IL.

So many good talks. Hard to express how one good soul can affect so many others. He was a delight to have as a visitor when his roller coaster inspections at Geauga took him out our way here in Ohio. My heartfelt sympathy to you Sallie and your children.
I am blessed he took so much Time with my own son, Banno, making an indelible memory for him of a warm, interested, gentle soul of a man.
Banno and I shall miss him something fierce, but, like a shooting star, he will stay in our hearts with the best memories.

Hi Sallie,
I was sad to hear of Jay's death. Sad that I may not be able to see him in person again, yet happy that his presence will always be with me. All he taught me while working with him here at the U and whenever I use his writings to guide me. I hope you and your family can take solace knowing that whenever you talk with those of us that knew him, you get to see his life essence carried on, its alive and flourishing. :-)

Love,
Alex Danilchik

Over the years you lived on the circle I enjoyed the impromptu visits we'd have. I always thought of Jay as a warm and deep person and have missed both of you in our neighborhood.

Jay is and will be missed. He left a very beautiful mark upon the world and many hearts. I hope in that you can take comfort even as you miss his presence.

Hugs,

Armand & Walt
